This privacy statement sets out how Horizons uses and protects any information that you give us when you become a member of Horizons or use this website. We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected.

The information we hold about you

Information is collected to help us administer Horizons , this website, and to inform you of present, past and future activities.  For members of Horizons , we collect your name(s), and contact information including postcode and email addresses, and other information relevant to the administration of your membership. On registering to access the member's area of this site, you will be requested to consent to specific forms of communication. The minimum you consent to on application for membership is to receive the Horizons magazine and other information by post.

How we use this information

Horizons and its Centres use this information to ensure that only registered members access our private pages and to help provide information which we believe will be of interest to you.  We are committed to ensuring that your personal details are secure and have procedures to prevent unauthorised access.  Your details will only be shared with other members with your permission, and will in no circumstances be disclosed to third parties without your express permission.

Email Communications

From time to time Horizons and its Centres will use the email address you have supplied to send you emails which we believe will be of interest to you, providing you have consented to this form of communication.  Emails will be sent either on behalf of Horizons or one of its local Centres.  You have the option to opt out of receiving such emails at any time by advising us of your wish.  In addition we will seek your explicit consent to communications annually to ensure we are complying with your wishes at all times.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file which is saved on your computer's hard drive.  Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie allows web applications to respond to you individually, for example, by remembering that you are a member and have no need to re-enter your personal password every time you access the members' pages.  A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than that you choose to share with us.

Our website may contain links to other websites of interest.  However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over the other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement.   You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Controlling your personal information

We will not disclose your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.  We may, however, in exceptional circumstances, use your personal information to send you promotional information about third parties which we think you may find interesting.If advertisements that appear on our website contain personal information such as contact details including email addresses, Horizons will not be held responsible for any abuse or misuse of these details by third parties.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the General Data Protection Regulations.  If you would like a copy of the information held about you please contact the Website Administrator using the 'Contact Us' page of the website once you have logged in. A small fee may be payable.
